As part of Jan Abhiyan, Commissioner Secretary Forests, Ecology and Environment, Sanjeev Verma, today visited Nowshera and Rajouri Forest Divisions to attend One Beat Guard One Village Programme (Green Jammu and Kashmir  drive) under the campaign “ Har Gaon Hariyali", a massive afforestation program.

He was accompanied by Vivek Verma, CF West; A D Singh, DFO Rajouri; Neelima Shah, DFO Nowshera; Rakesh Sharaf, DFO Social Forestry Rajouri; Rashid Manhas, District Soil Conservation Officer; Range Officer Nowshera, Anil Bhagat; Range Officer Sunderbani, Rakesh Verma and Range Officer Lamberi, Sudesh Kumar.

Commissioner Secretary inspected Nadpur Nursery of Nowshera Forest Division and asked the concerned for working on modernisation of the nursery so that more number of saplings could be raised in future to achieve the set targets. He appreciated the raising of plant saplings under low cost greening.

Under Jan Abhiyan, about 100 plant saplings were planted and distributed at Middle School Narian in presence of Sanjeev Verma in Sangur Narian Panchayat.

Commissioner Secretary highlighted various ongoing schemes of J&K Forest Department besides elaborating on directions received from the administrative department to observe 15-27 October 2022 as a period of carrying out activities focussed on Jan Abhiyan: One Beat Guard, One Village program.

While interacting with local PRI members during the visit, Commissioner Secretary emphasized on protecting forest resources. He said that it is not possible to conserve the forest wealth without support of local people. He called upon local PRI members to extend full support to forest department in its efforts to conserve rich natural wealth of district Rajouri.

He added that in the coming days the Forest Department  will be working on creation of City Forest for the local people to enjoy the green space. Besides, planting of more fodder species  will be done to meet the demand of local people. He said that the Forest Department will be working on  repair and creation of water bodies for ground recharge which can help the local people in a big way.
